As well as atmospheric gases, we supply thousands of different types of gas, and gas mixtures to customers across the South Pacific in an enormous range of industries.

Monday to Friday - 8.00am to 4.00pm

$34.43/hour ordinary hours

Ongoing position

Duties:

  • Assist the Chemist with method development.
  • Conduct routine preparation, production and analyses using documented methods and predetermined parameters.
  • Set up & retrieve MOA/procedures and processes.
  • Conduct the preparation/ production/ analysis of gas mixtures.
  • Involves manual handling of gas cylinders including trundling, using trolleys and lifting up to 20kg.
  • Volume dependant on workstation but could process at least 30 cylinders per day.
  • Preparation and Filling of gas mixtures using automated and semi-automated filling booths in line with procedures.
  • Analysis of gas mixtures using pre-defined methods and procedures.
  • Preparing cylinders for dispatch including labelling.
  • Conduct non-routine preparation, production and analyses.
  • Maintain Laboratory records and systems, conduct regular, scheduled back-ups of data and ensure that same is retrievable when required.
  • Maintain Laboratory equipment in good working condition.
  • Report to chemists when Lab instruments broken down.
  • Maintain verifiable calibration status of all instrumentation.
  • Maintain consumable stock.
  • Conduct the routine maintenance check
  • Comply with site safety and environmental standards.
  • Ensure that the Laboratory is always kept tidy and clean.
  • Ensure safe handling of chemicals in the laboratory.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

  • Preferably with knowledge of analytical chemistry and demonstrate skills to Gases lab analytical instrumentation such as GC, FTIR.
  • Demonstrate computer skills with MS office & SAP.
  • Understanding of statistical figures and uncertainty calculation.
  • Demonstrated organisational and time-management skills to work independently.
  • Proven competence in quality system application.
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven record of customer service.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Highly motivated.
  • Take ownership of tasks and management delivery with minimal supervision.

Essential qualifications

  • Tertiary Qualification with Chemistry or equivalent

Desirable qualifications/skills/experience

  • Preferable to have GC/FTIR experience
