Site Engineer

Our client, a meat processing/manufacturing company is currently looking for a highly motivated and capable Project Engineer to join the Engineering & maintenance team. The company operates a modern, automated and manual production plant.

This is an opportunity to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with a reputable company. The role offers a challenge to prove your key skills in leading a large team to produce results and coordinate with all personnel on site. You will need to be able to provide engineering solutions to all departments, while at the same time, maintain compliance with regulatory standards. 

The Role:

  • Ensure efficient performance and reliability of plant equipment, electrical, mechanical and control systems by promptly responding to breakdowns with key staff.
  • Ensure equipment reliability by performing preventative and corrective maintenance Schedules
  • Identifying areas of improvement within the plant and within operations to ensure high production levels and minimize downtimes
  • Communicate effectively with Engineering Manager, Managing Director,Works Manager, Production Supervisors, QA Manager about relevant and urgent issues.
  • Maintain documentation as necessary.
  • Ensure complete compliance with all safety, regulatory and quality guidelines.
  • Install, remove, rebuild, maintain and troubleshoot conveyor systems and related electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Develop training plans for service schedules-technicians
  • Maintain a safety-first culture by promoting and driving safe work practices timely training

Ideal Candidates will have:

  • Formal qualifications required  
  • Demonstrable experience managing large projects and project teams
  • Practical experience with maintenance management
  • Practical experience with budgeting and cost control
  • Experience with management of trade groups
  • Strong skills in fault-finding and problem-solving
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision
  • Excellent communication and technical skills

What you will need to succeed:

  • Able to organise and keep accurate records
  • Good communicator across all levels of internal staff
  • Computer skills in all software used on the site
  • Ability to give clear direction to subordinates
  • Ability to direct large diverse work teams 
  • Advanced computer skills in office & internal systems, Project management  

Some of the work will require you to be able to facilitate capital works across the present plant. This requires you to be able to set budgets direct project teams and contractors. Ensure that all environmental licences and environmental issues are attended to in a timely fashion meeting site and control standards.
