We require a qualified Maintenance Fitter for plant maintenance an important part in the presentation, protection, and transportation of customer products in the FMCG Food processes.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will play a key role in implementing preventative/routine maintenance programs to achieve machine and line efficiencies and minimise downtime. You must be proactive in investigating failures and making recommendations to reduce risk and improve systems / processes. Previous experience working within a high-speed packaging environment would be highly advantageous. Ability to perform fabrication jobs (welding, cutting, grinding) is essential.

You must be a self-starter with the following:

  • Ideally a minimum of five years post-trade experience in a manufacturing/ packaging/ FMCG environment with Australian Trade papers 
  • Experience with pneumatics and hydraulics , conveyers , bearings , gearboxes
  • Relevant Australian experience as Mechanical/Maintenance Fitter, Fitter/ Machinist
  • Own basic tools of the trade

To be successful in this position you will have the following attributes:

  • Proven experience working in a team in a process manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated skills in required Mechanical/Engineering trade discipline
  • Mechanical aptitude & strong problem-solving skills
  • Hydraulic and Pneumatic fitting experience with fault finding skills
  • Strong communication skills, active listening skills
  • Ability to clearly describe a scope of work and desired outcome
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office,and internal systems

The following would be desirable in this role:

  • Electrical Disconnect/Reconnect licence
  • Break down and repair to meet demands
  • Understanding & working knowledge of process control logic, ie. PLC’s motor control
  • Accounting/Financial Skills
  • Work experience within a change management environment
  • Experience in lean/six sigma manufacturing
